Mickey and Mantė
Hello, Friends,

Hello, My name is Mantė. One week Mickey was my best friend.
We celebrate the 1st of November. In Lithuania, remembrance of the dead took place during all annual feast days. Come autumn, when all work was done, Lithuanians carried out special rituals honoring the souls of their dead ancestors. In ancient writings this ritual is called " Ilgës", pangs of love or longings. The ritual traditions of the dead were directly related to peoples' belief that on that day the souls of the dead return to earth, to their homes. After the parish priest blessed all the candles, people carried them away, placing a candle on their family grave. It was thought that those souls who did not ascend to heaven, roam about in perpetual darkness and for this reason lighted candles were placed on grave sites to light the way for them. On All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, year after year, Lithuanian gravesites are decorated with most beautiful flowers and burning candles.
Mickey and Mantė put candles on a family grave. We like this tradition.
Shh, after school we were a little bit tired.
This is my dog Taira. Taira is just 6 months old.

We are happy with a new friend.
A tour around our school N.1 :)))
Mickey with our principal Mrs.Elena and vice principal Mrs.Ramune.
We say "Hello!" and "Thank you for Mickey".
Look, we found you. Now we know where Indiana is.
We are reading your letters.
Mykolas and Agne with letters from you. Now they know that "soccer" in our language is "football".

Hello Friends,
Here are a few pictures of the students opening your beautiful box! It is terrific. I made them wait until we finished our work and after lunch recess before we opened it. Our principal brought the box to our classroom. We did not get to go to the post office like you did! What fun it must be to be able to walk to the post office and pick up important mail!
Well here are just a few pictures:
We studied your terrific paper! Wow! You all are great artists!
The suspense is building what will come out of the box?
They can hardly wait until Tony gets to go home with each of them! We are glad he came with a sweater and hat. The weather is getting cold and the pretty leaves on the trees are falling quickly!
We might even get some snow next week!
A Quick Peek at some Fall trees! The rain and wind are making them fall tonight!
Tony's First Computer Lesson!
Here he is with our Technology coordinator for our school.
Watch Tony their are Bats behind you !
Tony stretched his legs and headed with us to computer lab. We are learning about bats and other nocturnal animals. We are going to have someone come next week with real bats to help us learn more about them. We will post some pictures. We hope Tony does not get scared!
After Computer lab we went to Gym class. Our gym teacher was excited to meet him!
Ellie is Special Child of the Week so she was the first lucky one to carry him around and give him big hugs.
Everyone wants to have their picture taken with him. Those pictures will come be posted soon!
Tony went back to the room and rested for a bit in his traveling box!

He asked if he could wave your flag and we said sure! The blue side with the stars looks sort of like our Indiana state flag.
Thanks for sharing Tony with us! We will keep him safe for you . We will keep you posted on the fun that he has. It is great to learn all about you too.
More later......
